Context

IT IS MUSTAḤABB to say: ‘Glory be to the Living, Who does not die.’ Al-Qāḍī Imam Abū al-Maḥāsin ar-Rūyānī, one of our colleagues, says in his book al-Baḥr: “It is mustaḥabb to supplicate saying: ‘There is no god but Allah, the Living Who does not die.’ It is mustaḥabb to make du‘ā’ for [the deceased] and to praise him if he is entitled to it; but one should not speak generally and in vague terms in praise of him.”
