Context

We relate in the Ṣaḥīḥ of Muslim that Ibn ‘Umar Honorific symbol instructed a man to say when he went to bed: “O Allah, You created my soul and You will cause it to die; its death and its life are for You. If You keep it alive then protect it, and if You cause it to die then forgive it. O Allah, I ask You for good health and well-being.” Ibn ‘Umar said: “I heard it from the Messenger of Allah Honorific symbol.” [26].
