THIS APPLIES EVEN if the person who remains behind is of higher standing than the traveller.
We relate in the Sunans of Abū Dāwūd, at-Tirmidhī and others that ‘Umar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb
reported: “I asked the Prophet
for permission to perform ‘Umrah. He granted me permission and said: ‘Do not forget us, my brother, in your du‘ā’.’ He said something which was more pleasing to me than owning the world.” According to another report he said: “Let us share in your du‘ā’, my brother.” [1].At-Tirmidhī described this hadith as ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ.
Lā tansanā yā akhī min du‘ā’ik.
Ashriknā yā akhī fī du‘ā’ik.
